Beer & Barrels at Belushi's

18 April 2014 - 21 April 2014

ewquay’s Belushi’s Bar is holding its first ever ale and cider festival over the Easter weekend, writes Greg Richards. The Beer and Barrels festival has the strapline West Vs the Rest as it’ll be featuring a great selection of locally brewed real ale and cider as well as some more unusual northern beers.

The event is being sponsored by Cornwall’s own Skinner’s Brewery. They’ll be showcasing some of their lesser seen beers at the event, along with their new River Cottage EPA which has been developed with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.

A number of other Cornish breweries will be represented alongside ales and cider from as far afield as Derby, Yorkshire and Scotland. Some of the locals will be turning up for Meet the Brewer sessions and beer tastings in the downstairs bar running across the weekend. As well the beer there will be a market stalls set up featuring a number of local producers offering tastings of their wares including Tarquin Leadbetter from Southwestern Distilleries who will be bringing along some of his Cornish gin.

While you enjoy your drinks there will be a range of live music from noon until 2am, including some acoustic sets in the beer garden, or you can admire the work of some local artists and photographers displaying some fantastic surf art. Weather permitting there’ll even be a BBQ to help soak up some of the ale.

The event runs from Friday 18 April until Monday 21 April, 12 noon until late.
